Torbay is one of the best known holiday resorts in England, situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the South-West. 

 

Torquay, together with the small town of Paignton and the fishing port of Brixham, form an area known as Torbay. Torbay has a 35km coastline with sandy beaches, red and yellow sandstone cliffs, exotic plants, palm trees, beautiful gardens, harbours and marinas. But there's even more: Kents Cavern is one of the largest and most beautiful lime stone caves in Northern Europe, Dartmoor National Park and Plymouth are both less than an hour away, and Cornwall, the Eden Project, and Land's End all make great days out. 

Agatha Christies, the world's most famous crime writer, was born in Torquay, and some of her 'Hercule Poirot' novels are actually set in Torquay's Imperial Hotel. And, of course, the 'Queen of Crime' has left many other marks throughout the town.
